Once a dental implant has been placed, the dentist will attach a restoration, also known as a crown to the titanium post. While the post replaces the root of the tooth, giving the implant stability and strengthening the jaw bone, the crown  or restoration replaces the original crown with one custom-made to match the patient’s smile. This not only improves the function of the patient’s mouth, but also provides an aesthetic enhancement.

Bridges are frequently used as an easy solution to replace a single missing tooth, or two or more teeth adjacent one another.  With an implant-supported bridge, an implant for each tooth is placed in the jaw bone. Instead of a traditional bridge which is anchored by two teeth, all of the crowns in an implant-supported bridge are connected to one another. If necessary, the dentist may opt for an implant at each end of the space in a patient’s smile, and then place an implant-supported bridge. Because the bridge is crafted from a single piece of material it will be strong and serve the patient well with the proper care and cleaning.
